BioBag Products & Cré Ireland Certification
The BioBag range of bags for collecting organic waste is certified by Cré, The Composting Authority of Ireland as suitable for use in industrial composting facilities. This independent compostable certification scheme takes packaging/products certified to European standards, available in Ireland, and tests them in an Irish composting plant to ensure they are compostable under Irish conditions. If the packaging/products are verified as compostable, they then are awarded a certification from Cré.
At the time of writing (2021), BioBag is the first retail range of compostable bags to be awarded Cré certification. This gives confidence to our customers that BioBag food waste bags and liners are legitimate and compostable in Ireland.
BioBag Ireland food waste bags are also suitable for home composting as certified by TUV Austria OK Compost Home. This certification system guarantees complete biodegradability, in the presence of specific requirements, in your garden compost heap/bin/home composter, etc.
BioBag Products’ International Certification
All of our products, bags, sacks, and films are certified compostable and biodegradable according to the European Standard EN 13432, the US Standard ASTM D6400 and the Australian Standard AS 4736.

Our customers should be confident that they are using the best environmentally sound products with the highest quality.
BioBag International AS, BioBag Production AS and our production partners have been certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Our ISO certification means that we have established and will maintain a quality system according to the requirements of EN ISO 9001: 2008 “Quality Management System and an environmental system according to the requirements of EN ISO 14001: 2004 “Environmental Management System.
ISO certification is not a requirement, but BioBag aspired to implement these certifications in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations as well as meet our company mission and vision. We also saw the need to acquire the ISO certification because of contractual or regulatory requirements and to meet our customer’s requests.
